Squarespace for a rental company: beautiful templates, and what they do not solve

Squarespace is the best-looking answer on this list for an operator who wants to build it themselves, and for a luxury or boutique fleet that matters more than it sounds. Where it gets thin for rental is volume and upkeep: the site needs a page per class and per lot, policy pages, a publishing schedule and weekly corrections, and none of that is a design problem.

The short answer

Design-led and genuinely handsome. Less suited to thirty structured pages nobody has time to maintain.

Both options below are legitimate. Which one is right depends on who is going to do the work after launch, how many pages your fleet and your lots actually need, and whether you want search traffic you are not paying for per click.

When Squarespace is the better choice

  • Presentation is the point: a small exotic or boutique fleet where photography carries the sale.
  • You want to build it yourself and you have a good eye.
  • You have five to ten pages in mind and no plans to grow past that.
  • You want a low, predictable subscription and are happy to own the content work.

When a managed GetRentalWebsite plan wins

  • The fleet has real breadth: economy through box truck, each class worth its own page.
  • You run more than one lot and want each to rank in its own area.
  • Nobody has time to write weekly, correct rate text or maintain a redirect map.
  • You want a speed guarantee on a phone rather than a design that looks great on a laptop.

Side by side

Twelve things a rental operator should weigh. Where the honest answer is "it depends on how you build it", the table says that rather than scoring a point.

Where Squarespace genuinely wins for rental

Exotic and luxury fleets sell on presentation, and a well-chosen template with good photography beats a badly built custom site every time. If your fleet is six cars, your rates are premium and your enquiries come through Instagram, a handsome Squarespace site and a phone number may be the whole job. We would rather tell you that than sell you a plan you do not need.

The moment it stops fitting

It stops fitting at scale and at speed of change. Twenty-five pages of fleet, locations and policies is a lot of hand building, and each seasonal rate change means opening the editor and finding every page that mentions it. That is the job a managed plan is actually buying you out of, and it is the job that quietly does not get done.

Design quality is not the same as conversion structure

A rental visitor wants three answers fast: do you have my class, is there a lot near me, how do I hold it. That is a structural decision about what sits where on every page, not a template choice. We build the booking path into every layout, so the answer is reachable from any page a renter lands on, including an article.

What we would keep from a Squarespace build

Usually the photography and the brand. If you have invested in real photographs of your own fleet, those are the most valuable asset on the site, and they come across into a build where they are sized properly instead of slowing the page down.

Moving across, keeping the look you paid for

We take the brand, the palette and the photography, rebuild the content into a class and location structure, and map every existing page address to its new equivalent so nothing that was ranking or bookmarked breaks. If you want to keep the Squarespace site for a separate brand or a side business, it can stay exactly where it is; we only point the domain you tell us to point.

Operators who made this move

Illustrative examples, not real customer reviews. They describe the kind of result the build is designed to produce. Verified client reviews replace them as clients agree to be named.

  • Renters used to call and ask whether we had anything free that week. Now the class page answers that before the phone rings, and the form takes the rest. My counter staff stopped losing twenty minutes a morning to questions the website should have answered.

Six vehicle class pages and a booking request form

  • One page per location was the change. Each lot ranks for the neighbourhood it actually sits in instead of all three fighting over one address in the footer, and people arrive already knowing the hours and where to park.

A page for every lot, with its own hours and fleet

  • Movers were calling to ask what fits in a fifteen foot box. Putting interior length, width, height and payload on the page cut that call in half and the bookings that come in now are the right size van for the job.

Questions about Squarespace

Can Squarespace handle a car rental fleet?

It can hold the pages, yes. What it cannot do is decide the structure, write the class and location copy, keep rate wording current or publish weekly. For a small fleet where you are doing the work anyway, that is a fair trade.

Is Squarespace slow for a rental website?

It is not inherently slow, but template sites heavy with imagery and blocks usually score worse on mobile than a lean custom build, and rental traffic is overwhelmingly mobile. We guarantee 90+ PageSpeed on the pages we build and host, which is a different kind of commitment from tuning options in a dashboard.

We have great photos of our fleet. Do they carry over?

Yes, and they are usually the best thing you own. We resize and convert them properly so a gallery does not slow the page that is supposed to convert.

Will a move hurt our search rankings?

It should not. Every old page address is mapped to its closest new equivalent and redirected on launch day, which is the mechanism that carries rankings across.

Can you build a page for each model like our current gallery?

That is the recommendation for a luxury or exotic fleet: a page per model with photography, plain language specification highlights, deposit and requirement terms, and its own path into the booking form.

How is this different from hiring a Squarespace designer?

A designer builds it once. The monthly plan includes the build, hosting, weekly checks, revisions at any size within 2 to 5 working days, and researched articles every week. If you want a one-off build and will maintain it yourself, a designer is the cheaper route.

What if we only rent six cars?

Then be honest with yourself about whether you need the plan. Six models, one lot, and you enjoy running the site: Squarespace may be right. Six models, one lot, and the site has not been touched since 2024: the plan is what actually gets it done.

Do we get a login to edit pages?

No, and that is deliberate. You send changes through your client portal and they are made within 2 to 5 working days, which is what keeps the site fast, consistent and unbreakable in a busy week.

Still deciding? Look at the actual site

A live walk-through of the site you would get, on your screen, in your colours, in about 30 minutes. Plans from $127 a month, live in 7 days on Solo Lot, and the $697 build fee invoiced only after launch.
